Windows - The Process....
1. Send me an email or complete the enquiry form.
I'll then ask you to send me a photo of the windows in your space - preferably one from the inside (so I can see the accessibility) and one from the outside (so I can see the context of the outside space).
If you have any ideas about what you'd like then it's helpful to know this ahead of the call so that I can start to think about what I might be able to create for you. If the installation date is critical for you (i.e. it's for a promotion or event) then this is also very helpful.
2. Let's have a conversation about what it is that you'd like and why, along with how long you'd like the design to remain on your window for. Sometimes it can be helpful to understand a bit about your business and talk through any other window displays that you've done in the past.
3. We can look at when you'd like the window to be created. It's worth noting that Christmas is one of my busiest times so you'll need to get in early as I have clients you repeat book.
4. Following the call I will put together a mood board with a design concept and rough visualisation (this is your window with a design overlayed) to give you an idea of how the concept, scale and colour. All designs are rendered by hand and therefore there maybe differences between visualisations and the final design. This part of the craft and makes each design unique.
We can then liaise about your thoughts on the design either by email or on the phone. There is one revision of the design included in the price any other amendments are subject to a small additional cost.
Rates
Prices start at £300 - this is a day rate but it includes the design process and materials (unless you require something very specific which needs to be sourced i.e a brand colour paint).
If the design takes more than 1 day (it's a very large window or the design is intricate) then the cost will increase accordingly. I always do my best to predict how long a design will take to create on the glass so you will have a good idea of the cost before committing to the booking.
Mileage and sustenance is charged for locations over 15miles from NG9 (Nottingham, UK).
Common Questions
Lettering & Messages - I am happy to add wording or letting to the design. This is charged at an additional cost because of the preparation work involved in planning and printing the guides. I only work in certain fonts and need access to the area directly outside the window so that I can put the guides on the outside of the glass to trace through.
Logos - I don't recreate brand logos because......
-
They generally have a very clean graphic finish. It's hard to achieve this in the style which I work and I'm not a sign writer.
-
Although the painted design are quite stable they can be scratched and damaged as well as fading over time. Logos are normally something that needs to remain on a surface for a longer period of time than I can guarantee..
Longevity of the design - As I mentioned the designs can get damaged and don't work well if the atmosphere is very moist or has heavy condensation. If however, the windows are dry and not in high-traffic areas then the designs can last for years - I have several clients that still have designs from 4 years ago on their windows. When it come to the colour, the brightly coloured designs will fade over time in direct sunlight.
Removal of the art work - I can advise on how to do this when I apply the window design. It's not essential that I remove it unless you want to book this service.
Trading when the windows are being worked on - Depending on the size of the space you can continue to trade whilst I'm working,. The paints are oder free and dry relatively quickly. The only thing I ask for is that there is at least 1.5 metres between where I'm working and any customers because I use ladders and need access to my equipment.
